Dischidia hirsuta D23

One of the prettiest of all dischidia species – a creeping form which is well suited to a hanging basket.

Spade-shaped leaves, up to 2.5cm x 1.5cm, some of which are hollow thus allowing ants to take up residence! Unique name signifies characteristic pubescence (hairiness) of young leaves and stems.

Blooms: Clusters of dainty, bell-shaped pink to dark purplish-red flowers measuring up to 5mm long which grow especially during warmer months.
Sun exposure: Best in bright indirect light to showcase foliage.
Water requirement: Thrives on high levels of humidity. Mist foliage daily. Allow soil to almost dry out before watering. Submerge in container of water until air bubbles dissipate or gently hose. Will not tolerate roots being overly damp.
Maintenance: Low. Repot annually. Half strength doses of liquid fertiliser at the beginning of Spring and Summer.
Special note: Close relative of hoya. WAOL permitted. Known as an ‘antplant’. Roots on this species are often very fine. Order limits apply.

Each living plant is unique and may vary in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available. Plants are sent bare-rooted.
